Chimney Sweep and Cleaning in Lewisville
Lewisville is the biggest city we serve, more than 111,000 people at the 2020 census, and its homes span every decade since the lake was finished in the 1950s. Old Town, around Main Street and Mill Street, has the oldest houses and the brick chimneys to go with them. The neighborhoods that filled in during the 1980s and 1990s, like Garden Ridge north of Main Street and the streets around Vista Ridge, were the first wave of factory-built metal fireplaces. Castle Hills, annexed into the city in 2021, is almost all 2000s and newer construction with gas fireplaces. Citywide, the median home was built around 1997.
That mix is why Flower Mound Chimney Sweep Professionals brings both brush sets to every Lewisville chimney sweep. Clay tile flues get wire brushes on rods. Metal flues get poly brushes that will not scratch the liner. The fireplace is sealed, a HEPA vacuum runs the whole time, and the smoke chamber and firebox are cleaned along with the flue. The camera goes up afterward and you get photos of the flue and the top of the chimney before we leave. NFPA 211 calls for a yearly inspection of every chimney, and a cleaning whenever creosote has built up to about 1/8 inch.
Chimney Inspection
A Level 1 chimney inspection comes with every sweep: firebox, damper, smoke chamber and visible flue from below, then the cap, crown or chase cover and flashing from the roof. On a brick chimney in Old Town or an older street off Valley Parkway that has never had a camera in it, we recommend a Level 2 inspection the first time. The video scan finds cracked tiles, open mortar joints and missing sections that a flashlight misses, and it produces the written report that buyers, sellers and insurers ask for.
Chimney Repair in Lewisville
Repairs in Lewisville split by age. On the older masonry chimneys it is mortar joints that have washed out, crowns that cracked decades ago, and tile liners that need relining with stainless steel. On the 1980s and 1990s metal fireplaces it is the chase cover, which rusts through and drips onto the firebox, and the cap, which hail flattens. Our chimney repair work covers tuckpointing, crown repair, flashing, leak repair, chase covers, chimney caps and firebox repair. Every repair starts with photos and a free written estimate. The written price is the price you pay.
Fireplace and Gas Log Service
Castle Hills and the newer streets have gas fireplaces almost without exception, and plenty of older Lewisville fireplaces have had gas logs added. A pilot that will not stay lit, a burner that lights unevenly, a wall switch that does nothing, or soot on the glass are all gas fireplace repair visits. We also install and replace gas log sets, clean wood-burning fireboxes and glass doors, and fix dampers that stick. Gas line work is done by a licensed plumber, as Texas law requires, and we coordinate that visit with ours.
Signs a Lewisville Chimney Needs Attention
- Smoke comes into the room instead of going up
- A smoky or sour smell in the house on humid summer days
- Rust streaks on the siding under the chase top
- Mortar crumbs or bits of clay tile in the firebox
- Water in the firebox or a stain on the ceiling next to the chimney
- A gas pilot that keeps going out
- Scratching, chirping or droppings in the fireplace
- More than a year since the last sweep or inspection
One of these is reason enough to book. Two or more means stop using the fireplace until it is checked.

- Show you. Before and after photos and a written list of anything that needs attention, with prices. You decide.
NFPA 211, the national standard for chimneys and fireplaces, calls for an inspection every year for every chimney, including gas, because a blocked vent can push carbon monoxide back into the house. See NFPA 211.
