Chimney Sweep and Cleaning in Highland Village
Highland Village is the small city just north of Flower Mound across FM 407, wrapped around the south shore of Lewisville Lake. It had about 3,200 people in 1980 and 15,900 in 2020, and almost all of that growth was houses. Highland Shores, started by Mobil Land in 1985, has more than 1,800 homes and runs from the 1980s into the 2000s. Castlewood, Chapel Hill and Briarhill Estates are mostly 1990s and early 2000s. Village Estates and the streets near Highland Village Road are older, with some homes from the 1970s.
The fireplaces follow the houses. The great majority are factory-built metal units in a wood-framed chase with a gas starter or gas logs. The older homes near Highland Village Road and the few custom builds on the lake are where the full masonry chimneys are. Flower Mound Chimney Sweep Professionals sweeps both. Drop cloths cover the floor, the fireplace is sealed, a HEPA vacuum runs the whole time, and the flue, smoke chamber and firebox are brushed with the right brush for metal or clay tile. Then the camera goes up and we check the top from the roof. Every chimney sweep ends with photos of what we found. NFPA 211 calls for a yearly inspection of every chimney, and a sweep whenever creosote has built up.
Chimney Inspection
A Level 1 chimney inspection comes with every sweep: firebox, damper, smoke chamber and visible flue from inside, then the cap, chase cover and flashing from the roof. For a home sale, after a chimney fire, or on a 1980s fireplace that has never had a camera in it, book a Level 2 inspection. The video scan shows rust scale, separated flue sections and gaps that cannot be seen with a flashlight, and the written report is what buyers and insurers ask for.
Chimney Repair in Highland Village
On a 30-year-old factory-built fireplace the weak points are all on top. The flat galvanized chase cover rusts through and drips onto the firebox, the storm collar pulls away from the pipe, and the cap takes the spring hail. Water that gets in rots the wood framing inside the chase and stains the siding. Our chimney repair work covers chase covers, siding and chase repair, chimney caps, flashing, leak repair and, on the masonry chimneys, crown repair and tuckpointing. We photograph the problem, explain the fix and give you a free written estimate. The written price is the price you pay.
Fireplace and Gas Log Service
Gas logs are in most Highland Village fireplaces. A pilot that will not stay lit, a burner that lights on one end, a remote that stops working, or a smell when the logs run are all gas fireplace repair visits, and most are done in one trip. We also install and swap gas log sets, clean wood-burning fireboxes and glass doors, and fix dampers that stick. Gas line work is done by a licensed plumber, as Texas law requires, and we coordinate that visit with ours.
Signs a Highland Village Chimney Needs Attention
- Rust streaks on the siding below the chase top
- Smoke in the room when the fire is lit
- A damp, sour smell from the fireplace in summer
- Water or rust flakes in the firebox after a storm
- Siding on the chase that is soft or bowed
- A pilot that keeps going out
- Chirping or scratching in the flue
- More than a year since the last sweep or inspection
Any one of these is reason to book. Two or more means stop using the fireplace until it is checked.

Burning dry, seasoned wood keeps creosote down in a wood-burning fireplace. The EPA’s Burn Wise program explains how to check firewood moisture. See EPA Burn Wise.
