Chimney Sweep Cost in Flower Mound: The Typical Range
Three national cost guides track what homeowners pay for a chimney sweep, and they agree closely.
| Source | Typical chimney sweep cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| HomeGuide (2026) | $150 to $375 | Standard sweep with Level 1 inspection |
| Angi (2026) | $129 to $381, average $254 | Flat-rate jobs; hourly work averages $65 per hour |
| Fixr (2026) | $100 to $500, average $400 | Average includes a Level 2 inspection and cleaning of a wood stove chimney |
The Fixr chimney cleaning cost guide breaks the range down by fireplace type and inspection level, and the figures below come from it. These are typical ranges in North Texas and across the country, not our price list. Flower Mound Chimney Sweep Professionals quotes each job after a few questions on the phone, and you have the number in writing before we start.
What Changes the Price of a Chimney Sweep
| Factor | Why it matters | Effect on price |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel type | Gas leaves almost no creosote; wood leaves a lot | Fixr: gas fireplace $85 to $250, wood stove $200 to $500, wood-burning fireplace $300 to $1,000 |
| Creosote stage | Stage 1 brushes off; stage 3 glaze needs chemicals and rotary chains, sometimes two visits | Glazed creosote is the single biggest add |
| Number of flues | Each flue is swept and inspected separately | Fixr: one flue $85 to $250 at Level 1, two flues $150 to $550 |
| Inspection level | Level 1 is included with a sweep; Level 2 adds a full video scan | HomeGuide: Level 1 $100 to $250, Level 2 $250 to $600 |
| Chimney height and roof pitch | Taller chimneys and steep roofs take longer and more equipment | Modest add on two-story homes with steep roofs |
| Access | Inserts without a full liner must be pulled to reach the flue | Fixr: about $50 more for an insert that has to be removed |
| Blockages and nests | A nest on the smoke shelf or a bird in the flue is extra work | Fixr: animal removal $100 for simple cases, up to $700 |
| Timing | No seasonal price swing, but November to January books out weeks ahead | Book August to October for same-week service |

Chimney Sweep
The full description of the visit, from how we brush a factory-built flue to what we look for on the roof, is on our chimney sweep in Flower Mound page. The sweep and the Level 1 inspection are one visit and one price.
Chimney Inspection Cost by Level
NFPA 211, the national standard for chimneys and fireplaces, defines three inspection levels. The price rises with the level because each one adds equipment and time.
| Level | What it covers | HomeGuide range | When it is called for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Everything reachable without tools: flue by camera, damper, firebox, smoke chamber, cap, crown, flashing | $100 to $250 | Yearly, and with every sweep |
| Level 2 | Level 1 plus a video scan of the full flue and accessible attics, crawl spaces and chases | $250 to $600 | Home sale, after a chimney fire or storm damage, fuel change, new appliance |
| Level 3 | Level 2 plus removal of walls, chase covers or chimney parts to reach hidden damage | $900 to $5,000 | Only when a Level 2 finds a hazard that cannot be seen any other way |
Our chimney inspection page explains the Level 1 check we include with every sweep. Our Level 2 chimney inspection page covers the video scan, the report and when a buyer or insurer asks for it.
Creosote Removal
Glazed creosote is the one factor that moves a quote the most, and it is also the one you cannot see from the hearth. A Level 1 camera check tells us which stage you have before we price anything beyond a standard sweep. Our creosote removal page explains the three stages and why the shiny third stage takes chemicals and rotary chains instead of a brush.
Fireplace Cleaning
Gas fireplaces sit at the low end of every cost guide because gas leaves little creosote, but the burner, pilot, logs and glass still need cleaning to burn clean and to vent. Our fireplace cleaning page covers what is included for wood, gas and wood stove units.
How to Get an Accurate Chimney Sweep Quote
A good quote takes five questions, and we ask them on the phone:
- Is the fireplace wood-burning, gas logs, or a gas insert?
- Is the chimney brick, or a metal flue inside a sided chase? Homes built from the 1990s on in Flower Mound are mostly the second.
- How many fireplaces and flues are there?
- When was it last swept, and how often do you burn?
- Have you noticed smoke in the room, a smell, or animals?
With those answers you get a firm price. If the camera finds glazed creosote or a blocked flue on site, we show you on the screen and give you a written price before doing anything extra.
